Floating Charms & Lockets: Remembering Life's Special Moments Through Pretty Glass Lockets and Tiny Charms

Have you seen these wonderful "Living Memory Lockets"? Glass-enclosed lockets that reveal tiny charms no bigger than a baby's pinky nail. Each charm represents a special memory in your life like birthstones for your children, or a paw prints for your animals, or an angel wing for a loved one now gone. I'd like to introduce you to this new concept in jewelry and give you some ideas - and photos - of what wonderful "Living Memories" you can create!

There are many lockets as you can imagine! Many different finishes and colored enamels. My favorites are the rhinestone hearts, but I also like the all-black round necklace. There are necklaces, bracelets, key chains, heart shaped,  and even a cute teddy bear shape. (See the top of the page)

How they work is through a strong magnet that allows you to easily open and place these tiny, little charms inside.

 There are also a ton of cool accessories too. Like our "Mom" floating plate that fit the diameter of your locket, with the tinier birthstone charms floating around it.

  I love the lockets with wedding or engagement themes. One thing I know is I would have a hard time choosing which charms to buy!

Another locket might be a reminder of your children through birthstone charms, music (violin, guitar, a pink piano or a treble clef)  or sports charms (hockey, soccer, cheer, football), or even a camper or sunglasses charms for that summer vacation you want to remember! 

Some of my favorites are the motorcycle charms- we have white, red and pink!

     I'm always amazed at the level of creativity people have. I remember in the 80's I made the prettiest decorative boxes. I would glue ribbon and fabric and use silk flowers. Sure they were nice, but today handmade takes creations to a whole new level!

     For instance, check out this hair barrette. I love the color - you can never go wrong with aqua, ivory and pearls no matter what you are creating!

Both of us have created some wonderful jewelry, as well as arts and crafts over the years, so we realize the importance of variety in colors, styles, and of course, good quality. We are not going to offer something in our shop that we wouldn't buy ourselves!

Here's another handmade piece I just love. So pretty with the

 lavender and violet, along with the pretty pearls. 

This handmade expert has an excellent eye for color and design!

     You will love the variety in our shop - we have lots of findings like connectors and clasps, charms,  sterling beads, stone beads and glass beads (of all kinds). Many supplies are brand new - still in the wrapper!  

   

  We have the pretties connectors and findings too. 

     We also have resin flower "pendants" with perfectly sculpted petals, rounded and curved, gorgeous shape and a bail built-in so you can easily work into your handmade piece (see photo below).

Handmade Jewelry Ideas: Polymer Clay on Metal Findings

  My friend Andrea and I started our own Etsy shop together offering an amazing assortment of jewelry supplies. We've been working hard at getting our shop stocked, our motto being, "something for everyone".  (Here's our shop  www.etsy.com/shop/ANAJewelrySupplies)

 Along the way of preparing and listing jewelry supplies, I do a lot of research to keep up with the needs of handmade craftspeople.   In doing this, you can imagine I've come across some fantastic designs in handmade jewelry. For instance, today I found Ivy Niles' shop (www.etsy.com/shop/ikandiclay)! Here are a few of my favorites:

I found Ivy's shop by pure luck! I was research for these gorgeous new beads we listed today.   There are three styles (sold as a set) with each one having a different design, created in brass. The designs, a STARFISH, FLOWER, and SUNSHINE each hold a beautiful brightly -colored polymer clay element inside the "cages". Here they are:

I don't know about you, but sometimes I find it hard to imagine what to do with polymer creations. I love it, I'd love to try my hand at it someday, but what would I do with my creations? Well, back to Ivy -  She has an excellent eye! Her designs are perfect - I love the colors, patterns, size and her designs seem to "fit". the back drop, fits the design element. AND TALK ABOUT WEARABLE! Not only would I wear any one of these pieces, but so would my teenage nieces!
